New Suicide Squad Concept Art Shows Off A Very Different Joker

David Ayer's Suicide Squad got a lot of people talking for a lot of different reasons, one of which was the costumes. It's no secret that many fans took issue with what some of the characters were wearing, and the Joker in particular was the subject of much debate. David Ayer’s Suicide Squad got a lot of people talking for a lot of different reasons, one of which was the costumes. It’s no secret that many fans took issue with what some of the characters were wearing, and the Joker in particular was the subject of much debate. Whether you loved what they did with the iconic Batman villain or hated it, there’s no denying that it was an interesting and bold direction to head in.

Now, thanks to concept artist Andrew Hunt, we’ve got a new look at how Mr. J may have appeared had they gone with an earlier design. Also included in the gallery above are photos of Harley Quinn and Deadshot, though they don’t look terribly different than they did in the film. Neither does the Clown Prince of Crime, mind you, but it’s clear that his tattoos were initially going to be more prevalent at one point.

Storming to roughly $750 million at the worldwide box office, not to mention nabbing an Oscar nom as well, Suicide Squad was hardly a complete failure for the studio – despite the harsh reviews. As such, it’s no surprise that they still intend on pushing ahead with a sequel.

Next up though is the Harley Quinn spinoff, Gotham City Sirens, which will reunite Margot Robbie with Ayer. Not much is known about it just yet, but one would assume that it’ll also feature Catwoman and Poison Ivy, and perhaps even the Joker in a minor role.

That’s unconfirmed, of course, but Warner Bros. obviously isn’t done with the character just yet and with Jared Leto having teased that there’s more to come from his villain, it seems like we may see him in either the aforementioned spinoff or possibly even in The Batman – you know, if it ever gets made, that is. But I digress.

Take a look at the new concept art in the gallery up above and let us know what you thought of the costumes they ended up going with for Suicide Squad.
