Official Thor: Ragnarok Screenplay Reaffirms Ties To Infinity War

Buried in the official Thor: Ragnarok screenplay is a nod to Sanctuary-2 and Thanos, the über-villain poised to make his debut via Avengers: Infinity War.

Hollywood’s annual awards season is officially in full swing, and Disney has submitted its finest cinematic achievements of 2017 for your consideration.

They are, in no particular order, Cars 3, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Coco, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Beauty and the Beast and Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi’s cosmic threequel set to release via Blu-ray and DVD on March 6th.

Truth be told, Ragnarok has struggled to gain much in the way of awards love – so far, at least – having failed to nab a single nomination for this year’s Golden Globes. But Disney clearly isn’t ready to wave the white flag, and has even released the threequel’s 129-page screenplay online in the hope that it’ll procure the attention it arguably deserves.

Penned by Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle and Christopher L. Yost, the script also details Ragnarok‘s post-credits scene, one which effectively leaves the door open for a certain Mad Titan.

They see — the massive form of Sanctuary-2, Thanos’ Warship approaching. A wider view allows us to see all of Sanctuary-2, dwarfing the Ark in size.

Truth be told, Ragnarok‘s ties to Infinity War have been documented since as far back as D23, when preliminary footage for the latter MCU title showed a visibly wounded Thor crash onto the windshield of the Milano, Star-Lord’s beloved ship.

We now know this chance meeting occurs soon after the God of Thunder (and Loki?) confronts Thanos for the first time, a scene which will likely unfurl towards the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War as the Mad Titan begins to accrue the Infinity Stones – and galactic domination – he so craves.

And it all kicks off on May 4th. If it’s more MCU content you’re after, Black Panther and the official Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray are poised to release within four weeks of one another, proving that, yes, business is booming for the folks at Marvel Studios.
