Paul Rudd Spoiled Avengers: Endgame Last Year And No One Noticed

Though it’s clear by now that Marvel Studios had settled on an official title for Avengers: Endgame years before its unveiling last December, not every star of the MCU was in on the secret, with Karen Gillan, Don Cheadle, and Scarlett Johansson all claiming that they didn’t know the name of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel before we found out.

That being said, as one of the co-writers of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Paul Rudd has already admitted that he’s been privy to some of the biggest spoilers of the MCU, and going by some recently resurfaced footage from Late Night with Seth Meyers, there’s a chance that the star knew about the Endgame title months in advance.

When Rudd appeared on Meyers’ show back in June of last year, the actor discussed the challenges of not spoiling the connections between Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers 4, to which Meyers offered the following response:

“I don’t know how that could mess up, though, because I would only think that would make more people see the movie, which I feel like’s the endgame.”

At this point, the pair both begin to smile and chuckle, as Rudd replies, “You know what? You’re right.”

So, what exactly happened here? Had Seth Meyers been told the Endgame title in advance? Was his choice of words purely coincidental? Was he perhaps referencing the preexisting rumors that “Avengers: Endgame” was the title of the Infinity War sequel? And what about Rudd? Was his laugh a giveaway that he knew Meyers was on the right track, or are we just projecting?

Until Meyers or Rudd offers some clarification, feel free to draw your own conclusions, but regardless, the cat’s been out of the bag for a few months now, and the fans and theorists have since moved on to new questions about the upcoming flick. The internet still has a couple more months to speculate though before Avengers: Endgame spills the last of its secrets when it arrives in theaters on April 26th, 2019.
