The director opened his statement by addressing the movie’s newly issued R rating, explaining that the process of securing this rating is what was the holding back the trailer:

“As you now may have heard we finally received our R Rating. This was a very long process and threw us a couple months behind schedule. It’s a drag to be sure, but that the way it goes.

Anyway that is the reason you haven’t seen a trailer yet. We are currently working on a trailer and hope to get it out in the world ASAP.”

That first trailer has sure been a long time coming, seeing how principal photography on Three From Hell wrapped in April of last year. In the twelve months since, we’ve yet to even receive an official release date for the film, but when it does arrive, Zombie assures us that it will be worth the wait:

“I know it seems like you’ve been waiting forever, well I’ve been working on this film everyday for the last two years so trust me I know how you feel. Actually my first conversations with Lionsgate about doing this movie began over three years ago.

It’s been a long and wild ride but it’s all been worth it. I’m sure you will agree once you get to see 3 From Hell “in all it’s bloody glory splashed across the big screen.”

Hang in there.”

Zombie’s Facebook post also came with a new photo of Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding. The upcoming flick will serve as the killer clown’s third big screen outing after 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses and 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects. The titular trio of Three From Hell will be completed by Bill Moseley as Otis B. Driftwood and Sheri Moon Zombie as Vera-Ellen “Baby” Firefly.

As it stands, the movie has no official synopsis, but the many set photos shared by Zombie in the past year or so indicate the Spaulding and his two similarly psychotic collaborators will spend much of the film in jail or on trial. That being said, the “Free Baby” t-shirt worn by Moon in set photos suggests that there may be an outside effort to get this very guilty trio out of prison. If so, then we’ll find just who’s rooting for these three murderers when Three From Hell hits theaters later this year. But in the meantime, look out for that trailer.
