From Twilight to Gotham City? Artwork by the esteemed BossLogic has fuelled rumors that Robert Pattinson is in the running for The Batman.

From Twilight to Gotham City?

That’s the word on the street (read: Twitter), after a piece of DC-themed artwork emerged from the illustrious BossLogic. Taking a short hiatus from the brutal world of Mortal Kombat, the concept artist extraordinaire today published a moody piece inspired by The Batman, which features none other than Robert Pattinson as Gotham’s Caped Crusader.

For the record, the Matt Reeves-directed feature is yet to identify its Bruce Wayne; all we know for sure is that Ben Affleck has officially hung up his cape and cowl for good. But the intense, Bat-shaped spotlight that’s currently illuminating The Batman has led to Armie Hammer, Jon Hamm and even Nick Jonas all being linked with the coveted role.

And at least according to BossLogic, Pattinson is among those in the running:

A choice that I never would have thought to try but been hearing some background chatter about Robert Pattinson being looked at, if the talks (source) are true then all of our predictions were wrong. This might be your new Bruce!

Before we get too carried away with what is undoubtedly an intriguing choice – Pattinson may have cut his teeth in the Twilight franchise, but he’s since cemented his acting credentials with strong performances across The Rover, High Life and The Lost City of Z – it’s worth noting that BossLogic tends to fast-track all kinds of artwork, irrespective of who’s in contention for what. In short: don’t take this rumor as gospel.

The Batman is due to arrive on June 25th, 2021, and will be one of two big-name DC movies opening in the summer of that year, given Warner Bros. recently reserved a primetime slot for The Suicide Squad, James Gunn’s buzz-worthy reinvention of Task Force X.
