Following last night’s epic new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Entertainment Weekly has released a brand new image of Felicity Jones as the movie’s primary protagonist, the volatile Jyn Erso.
In a new interview with the magazine, Jones discussed her extensive training to prepare for the role and the arduous shoot, which the Academy Award winning actress says really put her through her paces. The 5-foot-3 star also explains why Jyn’s diminutive, non-threatening appearance is all part of the character’s “underdog appeal.”
She is absolutely a very unlikely heroine,” the actress says. “She’s someone on the edges and fringes of society. Physically, she’s smaller than everyone else around her, but… when someone has something they believe in, that’s what powers them, that’s what motivates them, that’s what can give someone enormous strength.
Considering the fact that we see Jyn facing down a TIE-Fighter in last night’s trailer, I can’t imagine anyone will be questioning that strength.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story blasts into theaters on December 16. In the meantime, you can get an idea of what to expect from the plot with this updated synopsis.
