The first trailer for Roman Polanski‘s Carnage has been released and it looks like the early Oscar buzz is justified. This looks like a pure actors’ showcase and everyone is operating at the top of their game here. Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly, Jodie Foster and Christoph Waltz star in the film which is based on a Tony award winning play called God of Carnage.
The film tells the story of “two sets of parents who decide to have a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a schoolyard brawl.” It’s a simple premise and it looks like a simple movie but I can assure you that this one will show up at the Academy Awards.
For a film that takes place in such a restricted place, it really looks like there’s quite a bit going on here. That’s a testament not only to Polanski’s direction but also the four extremely talented lead actors that we see here. I honestly can’t wait to see these four actors just lose it and go at each other, it’s going to be absolutely electrifying.
Carnage will open in theatres on December 16th, 2011. Until then, check out the trailer below.
