Ryan Reynolds Calls Hugh Jackman A Monster In Response To Birthday Message

Yesterday, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds took a minute out of his birthday celebrations to share a cute family photo with the fans, along with a reminder for people to vote in the upcoming midterms. But now that his special day is over, the actor has a very different message for his old friend Hugh Jackman.

Though the Logan lead was apparently feeling generous enough to hug his X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star on his birthday, Jackman also took the opportunity to throw in a couple of jabs at the actor, tweeting:

“Because I’m told that I AM THE NICEST GUY and you’re NOT. [Ryan Reynolds] … I will let you hug me. Just this once. On your birthday.”

Now Reynolds himself has responded, and it seems that the star felt compelled to expose Jackman for the fraud he is:

“This man is a monster. He’s not even from Australia. He’s from Milwaukee.”

Presumably, Reynolds’ claims aren’t to be taken seriously, especially since his own Deadpool movies show an ongoing fascination with Wolverine.

Though the pair haven’t reunited on screen since X-Men Origins gave Wade Wilson his false start, both Logan and the man who played him have been repeatedly referenced in the Merc with a Mouth’s two standalone movies. Reynolds has even expressed an interest in getting Jackman to feature in the planned X-Force pic, albeit playing himself. And since the Australian star’s days as the clawed mutant look like they could be well and truly over, this idea does indeed sound like it might be the next best thing while staying true to Wade’s brand of meta-humor.

While it’s unclear what’s going on right now with X-Force, at least we know that the Deadpool series will soon be coming back to the screens in PG-13 form, with The Deadpool Before Christmas scheduled for release on December 21st, 2019. In the meantime, we’ve yet to find out what Reynolds thinks of his Green Lantern-themed birthday message.
