Sarah Paulson Wants To Play Cheetah In Wonder Woman 2

Seeing as Wonder Woman already ticked off Diana’s most powerful threat in Ares, the God of War, there’s one obvious choice for which comic book character should be the villain in Wonder Woman 2: Barbara Minerva AKA Cheetah. So, the next question is: who should play the catlike criminal? Well, one actress has now put her name forward for the part.

A fan on Twitter sent a Tweet to director Patty Jenkins suggesting that she should cast either Sarah Paulson or Charlize Theron as Cheetah. While they didn’t get a response from Jenkins, Paulson replied to the message with a very positive “yes please,” even tagging Jenkins in her Tweet to get the director’s attention.

Paulson is an interesting choice for Cheetah, as she’s not the most obvious actress to play the part. That said, the American Horror Story star is obviously a hugely talented performer and we’d love to see her tackle a villain role in a superhero film of some kind.

Charlize Theron, on the other hand, is easy to imagine nailing the part. She’s proven her action credentials in the likes of Atomic Blonde and has already worked with Jenkins on Monster. Most importantly, though, Theron was offered a role in Wonder Woman but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts. So, it’s not too crazy think that she’d be up for the sequel.

Aside from the villainous side of things, Wonder Woman 2 will apparently give Diana a new love story, after Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor sacrificed himself at the end of the first movie. The thinking is that it’ll be set in the Cold War, moving Diana’s story on a few decades from the events of her last solo outing but still avoiding the present-day setting of the mainline DCEU entries.

Wonder Woman 2 is naturally a key upcoming project for DC and is set to arrive in Man’s World on November 1st, 2019.
