More airborne sharks are bound for Syfy this summer, after the network confirmed that Sharknado: The 4th Awakens will premiere on the small screen come Sunday, July 31.

Taking place five years after Sharnado 3: Oh Hell No! rained down chaos on America’s East Coast, The 4th Awakens welcomes back series stalwart Tara Reid in the role of April Wexler, with the fourth entry poised to reveal the results of last year’s fan-voted #AprilLives or #AprilDies Twitter campaign in spectacular fashion – regardless of the outcome. David Hasselhoff and Ryan Newman, meanwhile, are back as Gil and Claudia Shepard, respectively.

Last year’s Oh Hell No! may have struggled to pull in the same viewing figures as its bat-shit insane predecessors – down to 2.81 million viewers from The Second One‘s 3.87 million – but nevertheless, the cult Sharknado franchise still has enough mileage to spike Syfy’s total viewing figures year in, year out.

And now, The 4th Awakens will dream up a scenario where “Fin (Ian Ziering), his family and the cosmos have been blissfully sharknado-free in the intervening years, but now sharks – and ‘nados! – are being whipped up in places (and ways) least expected.” Gary Busey, Cheryl Tiegs, Tommy Davidson, Imani Hakim, Cody Linley and Masiela Lusha also star.

Syfy has checked the long-term weather forecast and yes, July will bring with it a brief spell of sharks-in-tornadoes. Look for Sharknado: The 4th Awakens to premiere on Sunday, July 31 at 8pm.
