Solo Hawkeye Project Said To Introduce A New, Younger Archer

Though it’s been a while since we last saw Hawkeye on our screens, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige suggested earlier this year that big things are still to come for Clint Barton. Since then, we’ve found good reason to believe that Avengers 4 will see Jeremy Renner suiting up in his Ronin guise, but if the ongoing reports from MCU Cosmic are anything to go by, the archer’s story could go well beyond the conclusion of Marvel’s Phase 3.

We’ve been seeing reports for a while now that say a Hawkeye solo movie is on the studio’s radar, and with this latest update, Jeremy Conrad relays intel that a project is “in some stage of internal development.” That being said, after the recent announcement that Loki and Scarlet Witch will each be getting their own eight-episode shows on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, the question arises of whether this work would be a feature film or a series. In any case, it’s alleged that the story “will involve Clint Barton’s Hawkeye, but it will deal with him training a new younger archer. Comic fans can probably figure out who that new archer is.”

That archer’s most likely Kate Bishop, a member of the Young Avengers in the comics, and the third character to take the Hawkeye name. As always, this report should be taken with a grain of salt, but seeing how Marvel Studios have made their intentions clear to boost the number of female superheroes in the MCU, Kate seems like a pretty natural choice for a young newbie to take this saga forward.

But before any of that, the Hawkeye we currently know could be dealing with some pretty dark developments when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
