Similar to Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, Spider-Man is all set to become a fixture of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019 and beyond.

With Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home both scheduled for next year, it’s pretty clear that Tom Holland’s Web-Head will enjoy a significant chunk of screentime as Marvel braces for Phase 4 of its lucrative cinematic universe.

And at least when it comes to his second solo adventure, Peter Parker will be going up against an array of baddies – chief among them being Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio. All of this (and more!) forms the basis of a new fan trailer which has been cut together by Stryder HD (h/t Screen Geek), and though it’s far from the real deal, it ought to keep us ticking over until Marvel Studios is ready to unveil something in the way of official promo material.

Casting-wise, Gyllenhaal is reportedly in final negotiations to join the MCU sequel as Mysterio (real name: Quentin Beck), whose superior intellect and illusions place Parker’s Spider-Sense on red alert.

He’ll be joined by Vulture and (potentially) Hydro-Man come 2019, while there’ve been rumblings that Far From Home has welcomed Chameleon into its ranks, after it was announced that Turkish-born actor Numan Acar had clinched the role of Dimitri – which is surely a nod to Dmitri Anatoly Nikolayevich Smerdyakov, the Marvel baddie better known as Chameleon?

All will be revealed once Spider-Man: Far From Home makes a beeline for theaters on July 5th – just eight short weeks after the landmark release of Avengers 4. And you thought 2018 was a defining year for Marvel Studios…
