As most of you know by now, the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise has stopped production for the time being. The cast and crew behind Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 have disbanded and the series is going to be rebooted. Director Sam Raimi has concluded his work on the trilogy, stating he is very pleased of how the story of Peter Parker has turned out. Once Raimi announced the sudden news, the entire cast decided to follow including Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. The franchise seemed like it was completely done with, until the studio announced they will be rebooting the franchise from the start, taking it back to when Peter Parker was in high school.

Columbia Pictures has announced that Marc Webb, best known for ‘(500) Days of Summer’, will be directing the sudden ‘Untitled Spider-Man Reboot’. The direction they will be taking will be to concentrate more on the early years of the character Peter Parker and all he has been through before becoming the iconic superhero, Spider-Man.

There has been debate for some time now between the studio heads as to who they want to portray the newly built character. After some time and many screen tests later, they have finalized a list of young, talented actors who for the most part have not had a big role thus far in the film industry. The list begins with the most well known actor being considered, Jamie Bell. Jamie has been in many great films so far in his young career including, ‘King Kong’, ‘Flags of Our Fathers’ as well as ‘Defiance’ to name a few. The other Actors being considered are Anton Yelchin (‘Star Trek’ and ‘Terminator: Salvation’), upcoming star Aaron Johnson (‘Kick-Ass’), Andrew Garfield (‘The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus’), Logan Lerman (‘Percy Jackson’, ‘3:10 to Yuma’), and Alden Ehrenreich (‘Tetro’).

All the following young actors are being considered to take on the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. In my opinion, I believe the studio will decide to choose Jamie Bell, only because he has been in more box-office hits than the previous actors on the list and because he shows a great deal of talent in every performance he has done.

The ‘Untitled Spider-Man Reboot’ is set to release July 3, 2012.

Who do you think will be chosen to be the new Spider-Man?
