Spies Under Siege In New Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation Trailer

The stakes have never been higher in this summer’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, from the looks of the latest trailer for Paramount’s July tentpole. The IMF’s very existence is under threat from a nefarious bureaucrat (Alec Baldwin), a top-secret organization of assassins known as the Syndicate is gunning for Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and company, and there’s absolutely no back-up should the spies find themselves in trouble.

Of course, working under pressure is nothing new for Hunt – and in typical Mission: Impossible fashion, the new trailer sees him battered and bruised more than any other character, taking a beating from some anonymous cronies, clinging to the side of a plane mid-takeoff, attempting a dangerous jump into what looks like a massive safe guarded by 70,000 gallons of pressurized water, and – well, you get the picture.

Paula Patton isn’t in the mix this time around, but familiar franchise players like Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames are all in the cast, along with promising newcomer Rebecca Ferguson.

Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) is sitting behind the camera on this fifth outing for the franchise, the story for which he hatched with Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3). Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation will hit theaters on July 30.

With the IMF disbanded, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, the team now faces off against a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate. These highly trained operatives are hellbent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who may or may not be a member of this rogue nation, as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.
