Which Marvel hero has appeared in more movies than any of the Avengers or the X-Men? That’s right, it’s the one and only Stan Lee, who’s been a fixture of every Marvel production for the past two decades. Be it made by Disney, Fox or Sony, Lee is always welcome to turn up for a cameo in the latest film based on the comics franchise that he helped build, and each and every time he appears it’s a real treat.
Once known primarily as the founding father of Spider-Man, Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four and so many other great Marvel characters, Lee is now considered the undisputed king of cameos. From Captain America: Civil War and The Defenders to last year’s Thor: Ragnarok, not a Marvel project goes by without some cute nod to the all-around industry legend – be it in the form of a well-placed poster or actual appearance. And of course, Avengers: Infinity War is no different.
Thanks to some recent fan events that Marvel’s been hosting, which have shown off 20 minutes of footage from the film, Lee’s cameo has now been revealed and courtesy of Twitter user @JoshyMatthews24, we’ve got a description of it for you, which makes it sound like it comes from the scene in the video below.
When Spiderman gets to the outside of the bus he puts his mask on and jumps backwards and hits his body on the window of a vehicle. Stan Lee’s cameo is that he is the driver of that vehicle. He then says “huh.. must have been a bug.”
While this has yet to be confirmed by Marvel, some digging on Twitter – and other social media platforms – have revealed similar reports, leading us to believe that this is indeed Stan’s cameo. It sounds like another great one, too, and will surely get some laughs from the audience. Which is just as well, because the comic book legend’s personal life is certainly no laughing matter at the moment.
As you’ve surely heard, a number of disturbing stories have surfaced in recent weeks, ranging from the LAPD being called to his house to investigate a complaint of elder abuse, reports of money being siphoned from his personal bank account without his permission, conspiracies involving his daughter’s inheritance being stolen from her by con-artists and, just recently, a truly bizarre story involving Lee’s blood being stolen in order to create a special ink to sign comics with.
Suffice it to say, Stan Lee’s going through a very tough time right now and we can only hope that he’s able to get everything sorted out and continue to make cameos in Marvel movies. The next of which will be the aforementioned Avengers: Infinity War, which opens on April 27th.
