Star Wars: Episode IX Trailer Said To Arrive Sooner Rather Than Later

For anyone caught up in the various hearsay and speculation around Star Wars: Episode IX, December proved to be a somewhat disappointing month. Though it was a prominent rumor for a period that the first teaser for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming trilogy-closer would be coming by Christmas, the fans eventually adjusted their expectations as the 25th drew nearer, and the various trailer predictions were edged out by the prospect that we might at least get a behind-the-scenes featurette before the year was out.

Sadly, even that rumor proved overly optimistic, but if a new report from Making Star Wars is anything to go by, we hopefully won’t have too much longer to wait before some footage comes our way. According to the site’s sources, a version of the first Episode IX teaser has, in fact, been cut, though it’s unclear if this will be the final version. The report goes on to stress that the preview “has been seen by so few people at this point, details are scant,” but it’s still nice to think that Lucasfilm could have something ready for us sooner rather than later.

As for when this trailer might be arriving, a report from last week alleged that it’s set for some point in the first quarter of 2019, which casts the net pretty wide, though it’s been argued that the 53rd Super Bowl on February 3rd could be an ideal occasion. Then again, the first teaser for The Last Jedi didn’t drop until April of its year of release, so perhaps we’ve still got a few months to go.

In the meantime, one date that seems firmly in place is the release of Star Wars: Episode IX on December 20th, 2019.
