Between them, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) are undoubtedly the big bads of Lucasfilm’s current Star Wars trilogy – not unlike Darth Vader and the irredeemable Emperor Palpatine (AKA Darth Sidious) before them.
Following their back-to-back introduction in The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm and writer-director Rian Johnson are about to delve deeper into each respective antagonist with the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in December, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Granted, Johnson has been quick to stress that The Last Jedi will unveil most, but not all of Snoke’s mysterious background, while it’s been rumored that Kylo Ren will be busy licking his wounds – both physical and mental – aboard a Mega Star Destroyer close to the First Order’s new outpost. Unfortunately, we don’t know too much more about what these baddies will be up to in The Last Jedi aside from that, but they have been the focus of much of the film’s marketing campaign, and that doesn’t look like it’ll be changing anytime soon.
A new piece of promo art has surfaced today which thrusts both Kylo and Snoke into the spotlight, and you can check it out down in the gallery below. We’ve also included some recent pieces of promo material that’ve appeared online over the last week or so. You know, just in case you missed something.
As you can see, there’s nothing terribly revealing about this latest shot of the two Star Wars villains, but given how intriguing each one is, we’re happy to get another look at them regardless. Not to mention that after The Force Awakens and Ren’s defeat at the hands of Daisy Ridley’s Rey aboard Starkiller Base, we’re excited to see him hunt down the remnants of the Resistance (and the Jedi!) with all guns blazing.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi lights up theaters on December 15th and is one of three major Star Wars projects in active development – the other two being Lucasfilm’s Han Solo origin story and the so-far untitled Episode IX. An Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff is also on the cards (finally!), though given it’s still in search of a writer and script, it’ll be sometime yet before Stewjon’s wise old Jedi Master returns to the fray. Stay tuned to WGTC for more.
