The Devil’s Rejects Sequel Reportedly Eyeing Production Start In March
Looks like Rob Zombie is prepped and ready to close out his trilogy.
Following in the blood-stained footsteps of House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, the prolific filmmaker is reportedly close to firing up production on his sequel to the latter.
Bloody Disgusting has the scoop, revealing that the follow-up, one rumored to be titled The Devil’s Rejects 2: Three From Hell, is due to begin filming in March, when Saban Films and Lionsgate will allegedly help develop the horror romp for a multi-platform release (read: theaters, VOD, and home video). That’s not outside the realm of possibility, either, as Rob Zombie collaborated with both companies for the distribution of his crowd-sourced slasher, 31.
Should Bloody Disgusting’s story check out, and The Devil’s Rejects 2 arrives bearing the subtitle Three From Hell, it looks likely that the Rob Zombie follow-up will venture down the supernatural route in order to bring back its core Firefly family.
More than a decade ago, the original cult classic ended with its eponymous clan dead, so we imagine Zombie and his creative team will have to dabble in the occult and otherworldly hijinks if the likes of Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley), and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) are to be brought back from the grave.
Because make no mistake, The Devil’s Rejects are neither dead nor forgotten, and it appears Rob Zombie is ready to resurrect his doomed Firefly clan for another horror-tinged adventure. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this project as it begins to coalesce, but with Zombie and the team said to eyeing a March start, it shouldn’t be too much longer until we have some real, tangible info for you to sink your teeth into.
