The Robin Costume In Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice? Might Not Be Jason Todd’s

Since we caught our first glimpse at that tattooed Robin costume in the first teaser for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, it was widely assumed that its owner was one Jason Todd. The general consensus thus far has been that Todd is murdered prior to the events of the movie by the Joker – just like in the comic books.

However, word from DC Creative Officer Geoff Johns confirms that the movie won’t even refer to who wore that treasured outfit. “We’ll be exploring that” he told Entertainment Weekly. “No one says specifically the name of which Robin that is.”

Earlier rumors have indicated that is IS Todd’s suit, but Johns adds that which Robin it belonged to isn’t really what’s important:

“You can extrapolate that if Batman kept his suit like that, it’s a reminder. He’s displayed the suit of a fallen ally, fallen friend in the center of the Batcave. It’s right there for a reason, and part of it is to fuel him to continue to do what he does.”

This falls in line with what we assumed was the case. Wayne keeps the suit to motivate him to not only avenge his friend, but to remain steadfast in his mission to fight the bad guys. Might that continue on into the Batman solo movie? Ben Affleck remained cautious about dishing out any details – and he definitely didn’t corroborate any talk about a potential Under The Red Hood adaptation:

“It’s in development, and right now I’m really focused on finishing Live By Night. That’s where my focus is, and I tend to be a one movie at a time guy. So, when I’m finished with this movie, I’ll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be.”

Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams and Jesse Eisenberg, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens worldwide on March 25.

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
