Not too long ago, we told you that Fox was considering an R-rated outing for The Wolverine’s third solo film. Now, Den of Geek says that they have confirmation, as they’re reporting that The Wolverine 3 will definitely be restricted. However, the decision has nothing to do with the success of Deadpool. Rather, it’s due to the fact that director James Mangold will be adapting Steve McNiven and Mark Millar’s Old Man Logan storyline.
Those who have read the comic will know that Old Man Logan is a violent and bloody tale, which would almost have to be R-Rated if it were to be adapted for the big screen. Fox haven’t confirmed any of this just yet, but given that Old Man Logan rumors have been floating around for what seems like forever now, we’re inclined to believe that it’s true.
[zergpaid]Plus, after seeing how well Deadpool did, you’ve got to believe that the studio is more open to the idea. This is something that fans have wanted for a long time now, so to finally give the character an R-Rated outing for what will likely be his last solo film for a while, is something that’d probably be a smart move on Fox’s part.
Hopefully we’ll get confirmation one way or another in the near future, but until we do, tell us: do you think Fox should go R-Rated for The Wolverine 3? Sound off below and let us know your thoughts. And if you need to familiarize yourself with the Old Man Logan storyline, we’ve got you covered!
