‘This feels so evil… Dystopian AF’: Deadpool cracking jokes about the Disney wrongful death lawsuit leaves the internet aghast

Somebody's getting fired after this for sure.

You’ve no doubt heard about the tragic death of a woman at Disney World and the company’s slimy attempt at getting out of the lawsuit filed by her husband. But apparently, Disney seems to think it’s a laughing matter.

Listen, we all know Deadpool as that anti-hero for whom nothing is sacred. The merc with a mouth has won fans over with his irreverent humor that certainly gets pretty dark at times. But there has to be a line drawn somewhere when it comes to what the Marvel hero can and cannot joke about, and I feel like the death of a real-life, innocent person most certainly crosses that line.

Footage shared to X by @discussingfilm shows the character standing next to Wolverine and giving the audience a show, during which he makes a pretty poor taste joke about the ongoing situation between Disney’s lawyers and the husband who just wants justice for his wife.

Like I said, we expect dark humor from Deadpool, but something about this whole thing just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. It’s hardly been two weeks since the wrongful death suit was filed, and already we’re seeing jokes made by the company who is arguably responsible for the tragedy!

That’s bad enough already, but when you consider the fact that Deadpool is now owned by Disney, it kind of makes it seem like Disney itself thinks it’s alright to make light of the event. Whether that’s actually the case, or whether the actor went off-script and improvised that line, we’ll likely never know. But it certainly isn’t helping the company win the public over this time.

As many pointed out in the responses to the video, it’s pretty despicable.

Others seemed to think that the actor was more to blame here, or whoever wrote his script. However, they still made jokes about Mickey Mouse himself coming to assault the actor.

This just goes to show that the public still very much perceive Disney to be an evil brand that can be likened to the mob in some ways.

One user shared a particularly relevant comic panel in which parody is described as “an effective weapon,” as “a brand that mocks itself has free rein.”

Could this be what Disney is trying to do? Make fun of itself so that it’s somewhat immune from criticism? Well, in any case, it has spectacularly backfired as most decent people aren’t having it. According to an article from Forbes, Disney did withdraw its motion that would enforce the arbitration clause after the significant backlash, but it’s still incredibly shady that the brand would even try to worm its way out like that in the first place.
