Tom Cruise defies gravity in official poster for ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One’

Just standard Tom Cruise things.

The next installment in the long-running Mission Impossible franchise is imminent – and the film’s first poster has now been shared on Instagram.

Breaking away from a lot of the cookie-cutter ‘floating head’ posters which seem to be industry-standard and don’t tell us much about the film, the debut poster for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One showcases an action shot of Tom Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt doing what he does best – some sort of absolutely absurd stunt, which involves a motorbike.

In case you’re curious as to what’s going on in the above still, the freefalling motorbike stunt was teased around nine months ago when the first teaser trailer for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One dropped. It still raises more questions than answers, but it does contextualize it ever so slightly.

With the Mission Impossible sequel primed to be one of the biggest action blockbusters of the year, it looks like Cruise will be delivering action blockbusters in back-to-back years, having reprised one of his most iconic roles in Top Gun: Maverick last year. The star thanked fans for coming out and seeing it as he fell through the sky while filming another stunt for the upcoming Mission Impossible film.

While Cruise may seem like an absolute madman, it turns out that there is in fact a line that the 60-year-old star wouldn’t cross when it comes to the stunts he performs. No doubt he’ll still be toeing that line when Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One lands in theaters on July 14, 2023.
