Among the many well-wishers was Downey’s onscreen mentee Tom Holland, who shared a photo of himself and the Iron Man actor via Instagram, along with the following caption:

“What happened next is history. To a mentor on and off screen, happy birthday boss man. Hope you have a wonderful day #teamstark”

The last movie to have Downey and Holland share the screen was Avengers: Infinity War, in which Peter Parker famously turned to dust before Tony Stark’s eyes. More recently, the latest Endgame trailer featured a scene where Tony is staring mournfully at a picture of himself alongside Peter. It was a moment that broke the hearts of many fans, but by the end of this month’s release, we may well find that Peter is the one left with survivor’s guilt.

To elaborate, it’s generally assumed that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be successful in their mission to reverse the effects of Thanos’ genocidal snap. Peter in particular is more or less confirmed to come back from the dead. After all, he’s scheduled to star later this year in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

For Iron Man, however, the future isn’t necessarily so bright. At the very least, it’s widely predicted that Avengers: Endgame will serve as his final outing in the MCU, though we’ve yet to find out if Stark is getting out of this franchise alive. The fans might well have reason to be worried, but all will be revealed when the film hits theaters on April 26th.
