I really do like the unique design of the aliens in this film, being invisible energy, but I’m not sure if I’m sold on it just yet. The trailer looks good, but it comes off feeling a little cheap. I’m all for supporting original sci-fi, but I think if you really want to tackle an idea like this then maybe you should secure a bigger budget first. Maybe the effects aren’t fully done yet, but if they are then I think it might be hard to look past them.

Alien invasion films have been really hot lately and I think this one at least looks much different than recent films like Battle: Los Angeles and Skyline. It has a couple cool concepts behind it that I think will help set it apart from the crows.

I like the setting of Russia and I also like the idea of a group of young kids, who are pretty much figuring out how to take these things down all by themselves. All things considered, I’m going to be optimistic here and give this one a chance. What do you think?

The Darkest Hour is scheduled for release on December 23rd, 2011.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
