We Got This Covered has heard it from a trusted source that this April’s release will offer an early glimpse of Black Adam, a popular antagonist that Dwayne Johnson has been on board to play for several years now. The moment is said to feature during Billy’s visit to the wizard’s cave, where Djimon Hounsou’s character tells his young companion about the new world he’s entering into. During the sequence, a hologram reportedly pops up to display Adam – albeit with his face unseen, suggesting that Johnson may not be the one making the cameo.

On top of that, the film is said to have a flashback at the beginning that shows Dr. Sivana entering the cave. Here he sees the diabolical Venusian worm Mister Mind kept in a glass case. In the present day, however, the case is allegedly broken, indicating that the villain has escaped.

Going by what we’ve heard, it seems that Warner Bros. is already planting the seeds for future developments, be it in Billy’s next film, or the long-awaited Black Adam movie. Though it was once a popular belief that Johnson would be showing up as a major villain in Shazam!, executive producer Hiram Garcia has since clarified that they thought it best that Adam and Billy had their own movies to give each character the necessary time to develop.

As it stands, it’s unclear when Black Adam could be getting his proper introduction to the franchise, but it sounds like Shazam! will be laying at least a little groundwork for Johnson’s solo outing when the film hits theaters on April 5th, 2019.
