On the heels of the recent release of two movie posters for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, the first peak of the movie trailer has been leaked online thanks to an Entertainment Tonight teaser.
While the audio isn’t great, and there are lots of loud voice overs and other promotional pop-ups obscuring some of the shots, it looks like Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is going be just as thrilling and fun as the original.
It does have a few things going for it. The core cast from the first Sherlock Holmes is returning, with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law both returning to reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and his stalwart sidekick Dr. Watson, respectively. Rachel McAdams returns as Holmes’ love interest, with newcomer Noomi Rapace set to play Sim. Ritchie’s continued direction of the franchise will give this installment the same look and feel as the original, which will go far in way of consistency and cohesiveness.
I loved the original Sherlock Holmes reboot. It was modernized, but filmmakers kept true to the spirit of the famous detective novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock was as brilliant as ever, and Downey brought a quirky lovability to him that was missing in some of the past TV and movie versions.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows will hit theaters on December 16th. The full trailer will be attached to upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
