And though it may be considered Vin Diesel’s vehicle through and through – heck, the subtitle champions his comeback as though it’s the second coming – The Return of Xander Cage touts an international ensemble cast featuring Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, Samuel L. Jackson, Toni Collette, Tony Jaa, Barcelona playmaker Neymar Jr., Nina Dobrev and Andrey Ivchenko.
January may often be written off as the Hollywood graveyard for new releases – Caruso’s threequel shares its launch window with two fellow B-movie actioners in the form of Underworld: Blood Wars and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter – but xXx: The Return of Xander Cage looks set to embrace the ‘guilty pleasure’ mantle of its predecessors. It’ll open on January 20, 2017, and if nothing else, ought to keep action fans rooted to the edge of their seats throughout.
