Wade Wilson Tucks Into One Giant Chimichanga In New IMAX Teaser For Deadpool

Traditionally speaking, on the ninth day of Christmas we ought to see nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming and so on and so forth, but as 20th Century Fox's festive marketing stint for Deadpool rounds the final straight, the studio has unveiled an all-new IMAX poster and teaser featuring Wade Wilson tucking into one helluva chimichanga.

In keeping with the offbeat and hilarious style of Deadpool‘s viral marketing, the snippet above only features a sliver of footage from Tim Miller’s actual film, instead placing a spotlight on Ryan Reynolds’ almost pitch-perfect turn as the infamous Merc with a Mouth. Will it hold up across the entire feature? We’ll have to wait and see, but up until now there’s no denying that the actor has embraced Marvel’s whacky anti-hero with arms wide open.

Releasing alongside the trailer is the official IMAX one-sheet for Deadpool, bringing together the entire cast – Stan Lee included – for rather eye-catching shoot, with Wade Wilson’s crimson anti-hero riding atop the shoulders of Colossus in a way only Wade Wilson could do. Elsewhere we can also see Gina Carano, Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle) and T.J. Miller (Weasel), Ed Skrein, and Brianna Hildebrand as the inimitable Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

As today’s information dump represents the ninth day in Fox’s seasonal marketing campaign, we can look forward to another two days of Deadpool goodness before the promotion culminates with the launch of the all-new trailer.

That’s right, while everyone hunkers down in anticipation of Santa Claus coming down the chimney, there’s another man in a red suit that has us reeling with excitement in anticipation of Christmas Day. Check back to We Got This Covered later in the week when we’ll have full coverage of that festive trailer for you to enjoy.

Deadpool opens February 12, 2016.

Deadpool-1

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
