After acquiring it at the Sundance Film Festival this past February, Netflix has dropped amateur porn documentary Hot Girls Wanted and announced the release with a trailer both intriguing and infuriating.
Directed by Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus, and produced by Parks & Recreation alum Rashida Jones, the doc takes a deep dive into the seedy amateur porn industry, critically examining how young and inexperienced women are systematically exploited by their employers by centering on five women pulled into the business. A lot of the material glimpsed in the trailer is sickening, from industry professionals referring to the “shelf life” of the titular hot girls to the horrified expression of one girl coerced into performing an unexpectedly brutal scene.
Hot Girls Wanted doesn’t sound like it will be a particularly easy or fun watch, but this industry is booming in the darker corners of the Internet, and the expose that Jones, Bauer, Gradus and their collaborators have crafted seems primed to shine a spotlight on it like never before.
Netflix subscribers can watch Hot Girls Wanted now.
