Look at Disney Plus, isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you say its collection is almost complete? After Disney veterans and no-nonsense critics alike were split down the middle — with some enthralled newcomers satisfied with the live-action The Little Mermaid while others were less impressed — film buffs around the world are itching to know when the vibrant live-action remake is set to make its debut on Disney Plus. Of course, the streaming service has notably soared to fantastic heights ever since its launch back in 2019, and The Little Mermaid is exactly what it needs to skyrocket its ever-growing popularity.

Given that groundbreaking performances from stars Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy were undoubtedly the driving forces behind millions of people dashing to theaters back in May, it makes perfect sense as to why Disney fans are clamoring for further announcements in regard to the movie’s online release — especially after “The Scuttlebutt” became such a massive hit.

When does The Little Mermaid come to Disney Plus?

As of today, Sept. 6, eagle-eyed subscribers have been rewarded with a special underwater treat. The Little Mermaid is currently available to stream on Disney Plus. A full 103 days have passed since the aquatic classic swam into theaters, making it the longest wait for any Disney movie to release on Disney Plus since the streaming platform’s inception.

Coincidingly perfectly with Disney Plus’ limited-time promotion, streaming The Little Mermaid from home has never been easier, and it’s the perfect film to top off the summer. The movie became available to rent or buy on platforms such as Apple TV, Prime Video, and Vudu back in July, and was released on VOD shortly thereafter, but now it is finally sitting pretty at its permanent home on Disney Plus, where we can bask in its beauty as we ease into the autumn season.

Of course, releasing the movie so close to spooky season might gather up some tough competition, but there’s no denying that Bailey and McCarthy’s knockout performances will reel audiences back in. Now then, what are you waiting for? There’s a mermaid princess staring up at the ocean ceiling waiting for you to press play.
