New Theory Says Captain Britain Will Debut In Spider-Man: Far From Home

While we don’t know much about it, per se, apart from the fact it’ll see the web-head in England, could Spider-Man: Far From Home also feature the MCU debut of Captain Marvel?

What with Ant-Man and the Wasp mere days from release, production on Captain Marvel nearing completion and the pièce de résistance, Avengers 4, preparing for “pick-ups,” we’re inching closer to putting a bow on Phase Three. Phase Four of the MCU, on the other hand, is still very much up in the air.

Although, given that up until this point, each batch has consisted of at least six entries, and only a pair of Phase Four installments have been confirmed thus far – Spider-Man: Far From Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – we fully expect to hear a lot more regarding the most ambitious chapter in MCU history quite soon. And seeing as the former will be up first, I guess it’s as good a place to start as any.

Having received corroboration that Spidey’s sophomore feature will indeed be titled Far From Home, and confirmation that Jake Gyllenhaal has put pen to paper to play Mysterio, production is now officially underway on the twenty-third MCU entry. While we don’t know much about it, per se, apart from the fact it’ll see the web-head in England – supposedly weeks after the events of Avengers 4, mind you – that just might be enough to go on for this latest theory.

If you’ll recall, the deal Sony made with Marvel, effectively allowing Spidey to become part of the MCU, stipulated that for each film starring the web-slinger, the latter must input at least two of their own characters (in Homecoming, we got Iron Man in a supporting role and Cap as a cameo). Though the two MCU heroes that’ll show up in Far From Home are still unknown, Doctor Strange is heavily speculated to be one of them, while the other might have just been revealed.

A while back, Marvel was teasing Captain Britain pretty heavily. Hell, the production company begun location scouting and even had an actor in mind for the role, but nothing came of it, oddly enough. Supposedly, the reason Marvel didn’t move forward with the character a year and a half ago was that they changed where and when, exactly, Brian Braddock will be introduced in the MCU, and now, it’s looking like that might be in Far From Home.

After all, Feige has stated – as recently as December – that Captain Britain will be introduced at some point, and actors are apparently already lining up to portray him. Additionally, in the comic books, Spider-Man and Captain Britain have joined forces on numerous occasions.

Not to mention the fact that we know Far From Home will see Peter Parker head overseas to Europe and the UK. Marvel will probably have to alter the origin of Captain Britain to a certain extent if he really is to show up here, but given his extensive comic book history, that shouldn’t be an issue.

What do you think, though? Is Captain Britain scheduled to make his MCU debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
