To the explosive fervor of hundreds of thousands of bass music fans across the globe, Lorin Ashton A.K.A. Bassnectar just released five new tracks from his upcoming Into The Sun EP. The songs showcase his typically diverse range of musical influences in a major way – collaborations with everyone from his fellow bass music producer G Jones to British indie band The Naked and Famous showcase the breadth of his musical tastes in a format intended to mimic that of a mixtape.
“[Mixtapes] are fun playgrounds for me because there are no rules,” Ashton told Rolling Stone. “You’re basically sampling anything and mixing everything together with abandon. It’s like a big fucking sonic collage.”
Considering that he also has a collaboration in the works with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, the styles showcased in this cross section of his EP promise a series of interesting departures for the artist. The strongest track of the bunch is easily the grandiose “Dorfex Bos,” but music fans from various walks of life will undoubtedly have their own favorites.
Into the Sun is slated for release on June 30th, and will consist of a total of 16 tracks.
