With SFX Entertainment subsidiary ID&T’s future in the United States looking dubious as ever, it’s good to hear that Mysteryland USA will be returning in 2016 – albeit no longer on Memorial Day Weekend.
After public hearings intended to address the noise complaints of three nearby property owners, the Bethel Woods Planning Board approved the festival’s return – but organizers opted to push its dates back to June 10-12, partly to keep it from competing with EDC New York, which typically takes place the same weekend.
Mysteryland USA is the stateside version of its Dutch namesake, which has taken place in various locations throughout the Netherlands since its 1993 inception. The U.S. iterations have celebrated this history with museums and other educational attractions in addition to the festival’s famously stacked lineup.
The news snippet below from The Sullivan County Democrat tells the full story of the date change. For more on Mysteryland USA, check out our full coverage of the 2015 edition.
