Skrillex’s Unreleased “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites” Video Surfaces

An unreleased music video for Skrillex‘s groundbreaking hit “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” has recently surfaced on the internet. While portions of the video had previously been seen as part of the DJ’s live show, this is the first time the full visual accompaniment to the six year old track has been seen in full.

The video features animated sprite like creatures as they fly around a shattered landscape in search of the familiar red lines of Skrillex‘s logo. A chase sequence then ensues as the fairies are pursued by a giant horned monster, as his roars and violent movements are synchronized to the growling dubstep drop. The storyline then concludes with the two mystical creatures setting aside their differences as the familiar vocals sing “You know that you are my friend…”

The “Scary Monsters” video sports some impressive CGI, especially if it dates all the way back to 2010 when the song was released. Despite its high production values the clip does somehow feel incomplete, but it’s hard to imagine how it’s managed to remain in obscurity until now. Regardless, fans will be pleased to finally enjoy an official music video for the classic dubstep track.
