Undoubtedly named after the island in Croatia where Ultra Europe took place, “Split (Only U)” blends the monster synths prevalent in most of Tiësto’s recent discography with the trappy 808 drum rolls characteristic of The Chainsmokers’ creative vein of late. Unfortunately, as much as we were looking forward to the release, the influences do clash a bit with one another, resulting in an obvious collaboration that fails to measure up to the capabilities of either outfit.

Regardless, “Split (Only U)” by Tiësto and The Chainsmokers will come out through Musical Freedom Recordings on August 31st.
