Just a day after GTA dropped a music video for their collab with What So Not, the Australian producer is grabbing our attention once again with a new single of his own. Titled “Divide & Conquer,” What So Not’s latest effort is a bass heavy number that serves as the title track for an upcoming EP set for release on September 9.

“Divide & Conquer” opens with a discordant lo-fi synth lead over rising sirens. After a drawn out build up, What So Not takes us into the drops, which feature a punishing saw wave bassline atop clanking trap beats and shrill atmospheres. Following the drops, the track unexpectedly divulges into an acoustic guitar driven interlude before returning to the cacophonous trap workouts.

“Divide & Conquer” is one of the more unique dance music productions we’ve heard in a while, and despite its raw energy will probably go down as a divisive release for this reason alone. While its not hard to imagine What So Not‘s latest effort tearing up the dancefloors, the bizarre synth work throughout might leave a few listeners scratching their head. Either way, we’re excited to hear new material from the Aussie producer and look forward to his upcoming EP.
