It’s been some kind of wait since Wolfgang Gartner put out a full-length album, and there have been plenty of factors that could have colored his creative process in the five years that have elapsed.
In anticipation of his upcoming effort, titled 10 Ways to Steal Home Plate, the electro house mastermind has uploaded a minimix of the same name to his SoundCloud account, indicating that he might have expanded his creative horizons for the new effort.
After all, much of the minimix borders on saccharine levels of mass appeal; appearances from the likes of E-40 and Wiley & Trina make for a decidedly more pop-infused iteration of the Wolfgang Gartner style than what longtime fans might be used to. Nonetheless, his production hallmarks remain intact, and while the sound of 10 Ways to Steal Home Plate might make for a slightly more mainstream take on his time-tested approach, it doesn’t make for a tremendous strike against it.
