Over the course of 2010-2011, Zeds Dead became all but synonymous with the dubstep breakthrough of the same time period, but as the genre's prominence on the Beatport charts has sank in recent years, the Canadian duo have abandoned ship. Their latest track, "Collapse 2.0," is a by-the-numbers electro track that is unfortunately, nowhere near as memorable as their earlier work.

A simple piano melody accompanies dewy vocals by Memorecks before dropping into a chugging synth lead that leaves too much to be desired. Where comparable tracks from their earlier discography, like their ever-popular remix of “Eyes On Fire” by Blue Foundation, showcased their outside-the-box production chops, “Collapse 2.0” comes across as an effort not to challenge the status quo, ultimately leaving the listener yearning for the Zeds Dead of yesteryear.

The track is now available as a bonus download for anyone who pre-orders Something Else Remixes on iTunes. Give it a listen above and let us know what you think in the comments section.
