‘Can’t even debate children anymore’: Jordan Peterson humiliated as easy debate goes horribly wrong

"You're really quite nothing".

The ongoing YouTube trend of one expert arguing against a roomful of uninformed opponents makes for fun viewing. The channel Jubilee is the master of the genre, with their hit “Surrounded” videos, including “20 Trump Supporters Take on 1 Progressive” and “Doctor Mike vs 20 Anti-Vaxxers“.

Recommended Videos

The formula is now well established and always weighted in the lone expert’s favor, with the format producing a bunch of amusing clips of people saying some truly stupid things. But now there’s an outlier. Their latest video sees Jordan Peterson take on 20 Atheists, and he gets utterly dogwalked throughout.

The core problem is that, bizarrely, Peterson can’t say whether or not he is a Christian or, for that matter, commit to anything. Anyone familiar with his brand of overly aggressive, say-nothing waffling will recognize this tactic, which is used to browbeat his opponents and tie them up in semantic knots rather than argue a point.

All of which meant Peterson couldn’t even answer whether he’s a Christian. As one exasperated guest points out, “Either you’re a Christian or you’re not. Which one is it?” Peterson mumbled a little until his opponent pointed out, “I was invited to talk to a Christian… You’re probably in the wrong YouTube video”. Peterson slowly turned an angry shade of red as the crowd giggled at him. Peterson mutters “you’re really quite something…” only for the guy to deliver a Bugs Bunny smile and fire back “you’re really quite nothing”. Oof.

Damage control

Tellingly, soon after publication, the video’s title was changed from “1 Christian vs 20 Atheists (ft. Jordan Peterson)” to “Jordan Peterson vs 20 Atheists”. It didn’t get much better from there. Peterson’s moronic and meandering spiel were met with eye rolls from the crowd, who were left astonished at his inability to answer a simple, straightforward question directly:

It’s commonly remarked that Peterson is a stupid person’s idea of what a smart person looks like. Yes, he talks fast, uses long words, has a booming voice, and wears a suit. But he’s spouting absolute nonsense that collapses under even the mildest interrogation. But then, how much should we really expect from a man whose most notable contribution to the world of philosophy is that you should probably keep your bedroom tidy?
