Black Louisiana cashier can’t believe customer refused to let her touch his wine bottle, then allegedly insulted her hair: ‘greasy nappy’

Apparently, touching the bottle was a problem

A checkout line in Louisiana turned tense over a bottle of wine. A cashier and a customer ended up in a quiet tug-of-war over it. The cashier says the reason he wouldn’t let her handle it was racist.

The cashier shared surveillance video of the moment on TikTok under the handle K!3VZ. It shows a man approaching the register with a bottle of wine just after another shopper checks out. When the cashier reached for it, he held on.

For a few seconds, both of them gripped the bottle. He then pulled it toward himself and moved it over the checkout equipment. The cashier reached again and took it from his hands. Before she could ring it up, though, he took it back and walked away.

Cashier Alleges Customer Made Racist Remark

As first reported by The Nerd Stash, the surveillance clip has no audio, so what was said between the two can’t be heard. The cashier alleges the man “didn’t like the idea of me touching it with my ‘greasy nappy hair fingers.'”

After leaving her checkout, the man allegedly grabbed another bottle and took it to a different cashier. Other retail workers have dealt with discriminatory comments from customers on camera, including a Texas Dollar Tree employee who was told to “speak English” after a shopper heard him speaking Spanish.

The comments were divided. Several viewers backed the cashier. “Soo unacceptable. I’m sorry this happened to you!” one person wrote. Another added, “Man these ppl go out their way to be racist.”

Others focused on the bottle itself. “Acting like a hundred people didn’t touch it before it got to his hand smh,” one comment read.

Not everyone agreed with her account, though. “Did he actually say what you quoted there? or are you just assuming he’s racist cause he’s a white person… I have a really hard time believing the white dude said what is quoted exactly on the screen,” one viewer wrote. Another suggested the customer “could be a germophobe,” which would explain why he didn’t want the cashier touching the bottle.

Similar questions came up after a Black Sam’s Club shopper noticed an employee appeared to hand her receipt back differently from those of other customers, with viewers likewise disagreeing over what the interaction showed.

The cashier stands by her account, adding that the man is a regular customer who has caused issues at the store before. According to her, other staff decided not to escalate the incident, so it ended there.
