Video game publisher NIS America has revealed today that gamers will have to wait a little bit longer to get their hands on the upcoming Nintendo 3DS port of Cave Story.

For those of you unfamiliar with the game, it’s a side scrolling action/adventure that combines fast paced shooting action with platforming, exploration and light puzzle solving to deliver a fun and addictive experience. Players take on the role of a hero who wakes up in a mysterious cave with no memory of who he is or where he comes from. As he tries to find out his identity, he embarks on a journey to help save a race of rabbit-like creatures from a dangerous scientist.

While Cave Story was originally set for August, the new release will be on November 8, 2011. The reason being given for the slight delay is due to additional game improvements. Here is what NIS America producer, Jack Niida, had to say about the delay.

We are currently undergoing improvements to enhance gameplay. Changes are in the small details, but in order to satisfy both the fans and the new players we need to make sure the game is done right. Please look forward to it this holiday season. Cave Story 3D will be a blast.

Looks like the extra wait will end up being worth it, as “enhanced gameplay” is always a good thing. Plus, the holiday season release sounds like a good thing for NIS America, as there is bound to be a spike in sales as holiday shoppers are introduced to the new game and the accompanying promos.
