Never one to rest on his laurels, Eric Prydz has followed up the success of his years-in-the-making concept album and coinciding stage show with a handful of heavy-hitting premieres. Most recently, for instance, the progressive house innovator has used his performance at Opium Barcelona as a platform to debut what fans are calling “Opium ID1.”
As opposed to the uplifting, melodic ID that Prydz premiered at EDC Las Vegas last month, “Opium ID1” exhibits more of the elegant simplicity characteristic of the Swede’s usual releases. A hypnotizing synth arpeggio is accompanied by additional layers of sound so gradually that you hardly even notice each change.
The video of “Opium ID1” taken at Eric Prydz‘ Opium Barcelona performance doesn’t even break a minute and a half though, so it’s hard to get a good feel of the song. He’s sure to release the full track sometime in the months to follow, though – as well as a deadmau5 collaboration guaranteed to break the electronic music blogosphere – so be sure to stay tuned for more.
