Fans nominate ‘Archer’ voice actor to take over for Justin Roiland in ‘Rick and Morty’

That's how you get ants, Morty!

If watching Bob’s Burgers and Archer in close succession wasn’t already jarring enough, the world would be getting even more H. Jon Benjamin in a Justin Roiland-less Rick and Morty, if a few fans over on the Rick and Morty subreddit got their way.

This is a pretty spicy take and perhaps a little bit left-of-field, but the author of the thread clarified that if Adult Swim were aiming to distance themselves from Roiland as much as possible (and steer away from talent that would sound like a Roiland facsimile), H. Jon Benjamin would be their pick:

While many responses to the thread stood firm in sticking with a voice actor which sounds like somewhat similar to Roiland (such as his co-showrunner, Dan Harmon), at the very least there was unanimous agreement that it would be hilarious for the titular pairing to visit a universe in which everyone, and everything, is voiced by the Archer voice actor.

Alternatives that were pitched for a Rick replacement included Patrick Warburton, Stephen Ogg, and Will Arnett. Of course, ever since Adult Swim confirmed that Roiland was no longer involved with Rick and Morty (and Squanch Games also gave him the boot), there’s been plenty of other chatter going on around who could replace the belching, powerful scientist.

Fans have been doing their own admittedly hilarious auditions for the role, but there was also a TikTok star thrown in the mix that can do a pretty uncanny Rick impersonation too.
