A Florida man is facing the consequences of his actions after he was arrested for drunk driving during a live broadcast on YouTube, Dexerto reported. Thomas Leininger, 37, was taken into custody in Vero Beach on August 23, following a series of events that began with his own mother contacting the authorities.
His mother reached out to the police because she had been watching his YouTube videos and became concerned. She noticed that he appeared to be intoxicated and was also making threats during the stream. She believed that the background in his videos indicated he was near Riverside Park, though initial searches by officers in that area did not turn up his vehicle.
An officer eventually spotted a silver Chevrolet Tahoe performing an illegal U-turn. After following the vehicle to a gas station, the officer encountered Leininger, who stepped out of the car. When the officer questioned him about his alcohol consumption, Leininger admitted, “I only had a few shots.”

They noted that he was swaying, his eyes were red and glassy, and he smelled strongly of alcohol. In bodycam footage, Leininger even told the officers that he was going through a rough time and suggested that his mother had called them to control him. He struggled significantly during field sobriety exercises, such as walking a straight line and standing on one leg.
The police report noted, “I asked Leininger to not move while I was demonstrating and to just observe, but he repeatedly attempted the exercise while I was trying to demonstrate. Leininger failed to keep his balance on the line that he was instructed to stay on.”
Once he was on his way to jail, his story changed a bit, as he allegedly admitted he had been “taking shots all day long.” Subsequent breath tests confirmed his impairment, registering at 0.151 and 0.154. Following his arrest, Leininger was cited for driving under the influence. He entered a plea of no contest on September 15, and the court ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine along with additional court costs.
This is not the first time that streaming while driving has caused major trouble for content creators. The community has seen similar controversies play out on other platforms. Back in July, Twitch issued a ban to Kaceytron after she got into an argument with viewers who accused her of driving while intoxicated.
Additionally, in 2023, a Smash player known as bobby big ballz was banned from his platform after he was seen drinking wine while driving during a stream.
