I could not believe’: Woman trusted Chevron for $40 of gas. Then her car broke down, and the mechanic uncovered why

You never want this to happen to you.

A Georgia driver had her routine trip to a Chevron station turn into a nightmare trip to the mechanic when she found out the $40 of gas she put in her car was contaminated with a shocking amount of water. This isn’t like the holiday gas pump joke; this was a real issue at a gas station. Filling up your car is just one of those annoying chores you have to do as a car owner, but the quality of the fuel is supposed to be better at Chevron.

After Leslie Ann shared her story, you might want to start paying attention to the pumps, because what happened to her S550 Mercedes is a huge warning to us all. Her TikTok post detailing the ordeal has already been viewed over 599,800 times, and for good reason: the results from the gas tank drain are genuinely unbelievable, proving that all gas isn’t, in fact, the same.

Leslie Ann recounts that she had barely left the Chevron station in Georgia after her fill-up before things went seriously wrong. “Listen y’all, I stopped at a Chevron in Georgia to put $40 of gas in my car. Not even a few minutes later my car begins acting up,” she said. That’s a scary thought for anyone, going from a normal drive to a sputtering engine and, worst of all, the dreaded check engine light flashing on the dash. She smartly got the car straight to a mechanic to figure out the issue, and that’s when the shocking truth came out about the fuel she’d just bought.

Chevron gave a woman gas mixed with a high amount of water

The repair shop informed Leslie that the fix would be pretty “intensive.” They’d have to drop the entire tank, drain it completely, clean out whatever junk was in there, and then reassemble it all. But the real moment of disbelief came when she saw what they pulled out. “My car is in service and when they drained the tank, I could not believe what I was seeing,” she explained.

I’m back again! I got the report back from the Georgia Department of agriculture, fuel and measures division and it clearly states that the gas sample that was collected tested positive for water contamination. #badgas #chevron #s550mercedes #fyppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp #update

She was so shocked by the contaminated fuel, which was a bizarre, unnatural hue, that she had to share it. As one person commented, “I thought that was orange juice,” which perfectly sums up how strange the fluid looked. It just shouldn’t be that color, or contain anything other than pure fuel. To make matters worse, after the tank was drained and supposedly cleaned, the mechanics also decided to drain the oil and found that its color was “off” too, suggesting the contamination may have started to cause even more issues in the engine’s internal workings.

Leslie Ann concluded her initial post by saying, “I’m just sharing this so y’all can see what exactly was in my tank,” and I’m glad she did because this is a serious problem that could affect any driver. You’re trying to do the right thing and keep your car running, and a simple act like filling your tank suddenly becomes an expensive repair. Here we thought getting robbed at the pump was the only big worry.

Fortunately, this knowledgeable driver took the advice of one commenter who suggested reporting the issue to the Georgia Attorney General’s Office so they could “sample the tanks.” And to be fair, she followed up with the receipts we all love to see. Her follow-up post revealed the official, final word on what caused her car’s breakdown: water.

“I officially got the report back from the Department of Agriculture Fuels Measuring Division. It clearly states the sample received did test positive for water contamination,” Leslie Ann reported. So be careful and keep your fuel receipts; you never know what may happen.
