Where the original “Don’t Let Me Down” fit neatly into the category of melodic trap, Illenium’s remix features the warm pad synths and half-time tempo of future bass. Sound design subtleties and arrangement novelties set it apart from the rest, though, giving it a character all its own that will ensure it substantial play as festival season approaches.

Illenium saw quite the breakout year in 2015, with numerous remixes and singles propelling him from the Denver market into the national spotlight. At the rate he’s going, 2016 is starting to look like more of the same.

After listening to Illenium‘s remix of “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers in the SoundCloud player above, make sure to keep an eye on him in the months to follow.
