It has been a cold war between King Charles and Prince Harry. While Harry airs his grievances and ire at his father by publicly lashing out at him, the king resorts to seemingly subtle (but rather obvious) revenge tactics against his son. And if Kate Middleton bears the brunt of the losses as a result, the monarch appears not to care.
Charles has held on to his diplomacy even when Donald Trump threatens and demeans Canada regularly and indirectly insults the king. Then what is an insolent and evidently pissed off son who, in his eyes, simply throws verbal tantrums as the Roya family allegedly conspires against him and his wife. But it doesn’t mean he is sitting idle – he is busy cooking punishments for his youngest, and he just doled out one.
During the recently held grand finale of Trooping the Color (also the king’s official birthday parade), the whole Royal family – or what’s left of it – assembled on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. As usual, Charles stood in the center of his family. What changed was who stood next to him during this auspicious event – Prince William.
Last year, the honor went to Kate. As per body language expert Judi James, “Charles tends to pick out the most important people in his life at that time to pay attention to during a balcony appearance.” And even though Kate has long retained the position of being “the object of his attention,” amid his cold war with Harry, Charles dropped her and picked William as a message to Harry – that he and his eldest are united, even as the duke aims barbed words and accusations against them.
