Refusing a customer extra sauce is rare, but deeply strange when they’re totally willing to pay for it. On TikTok, content creator @__ohlk reveals how Domino’s denied him extra sauce and what he did next.
“I think with how expensive things are now, we need to be more willing to walk away when you’re not satisfied,” he begins. He explains that he typically orders pasta from Domino’s with a side of Parmesan bread bites and always adds extra Alfredo sauce. “I am always able to buy an extra side of Alfredo sauce. They usually just charge me like two sauce cups,” he shares.
But this time, the Domino’s staff did something unusual: they refused to give him extra Alfredo sauce, even though he was willing to pay. “No, sorry. We’re not allowed. That’s the only thing we’re not allowed to distribute,” he recalls the worker saying. “OK, I don’t want my order then,” he replied.
The man stood his ground
According to the TikToker, the workers were shocked when he canceled his order. “They looked at me like I was crazy,” he shared. In his defense, the man knew he wouldn’t be happy without the extra sauce order, so he figured it was best to cancel altogether.
“I haven’t paid for it yet. There’s no reason for me to spend my money on it,” he elaborated. The customer believes that, at times, more people should walk away when service doesn’t meet expectations. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t cost the employees anything. It’s just Domino’s. It’s just costing Domino’s money. They should want their customers to be happy,” he concludes.
Viewers in the comments shared stories of times they stood their ground at fast-food places. “Got three Subway 12-inch subs with a (buy 2 get 1 free) coupon in the mail. Got to the register after getting them all made and the lady says they don’t accept that coupon and proceeds to give me my total. I just said, ‘Oh okay, have a nice day,’ as I walked away,” one TikTok commenter wrote.
Another added, “My husband and I’s $15 Taco Bell order now costs closer to $30. When it’s not correct I march my a- back inside every time. We aren’t playing when the tacos are $2.50 instead of $0.99. “Dude I’m straight up a Karen now. I use to never bother writing reviews or asking for refunds. I sure do now,” a third added.
According to Domino’s, every store can charge extra for sauces, crust types, or toppings. However, businesses have lately become stingy about giving out extra sauce for free. In a report by Mashed, businesses will charge extra for sauce to reduce wastefulness, limit sauce abuse, and increase profits.
