Although we haven’t been seeing as much of Nick Fury as of late on the big screen, it’s undeniable that Samuel L. Jackson can largely be credited for allowing the character to attain the mainstream prominence he’s been enjoying for the past nine years.

It’s certainly no secret that Marvel comics have taken cues from their cinematic counterparts in recent memory, one of which was introducing a Fury that was more Jackson-like into Marvel continuity proper, although he technically has “Junior” on the end of his name. Still, you have to get a kick out of how things came full circle given that Jackson’s onscreen take was informed by the Nick Fury from the Ultimate universe, which was actually modelled after the veteran actor himself. The fact that all of reality has yet to collapse is amazing.

Anyway, a new comic centered on the superspy written by James Robinson and illustrated by ACO is set to arrive in a matter of weeks and it looks to have a psychedelic, almost James Bond-like vibe to it. And although the interiors we’ve been provided are unlettered, I can’t help but get the feeling this series will be a good fit for the character. The artwork is undeniably ACO, yet has a flavor different from his recent work such as, say, Midnighter and Apollo.

For more information regarding Nick Fury #1, as well as its release date, be sure to check out the synopsis given below:
