Nightwing #21 Sees Change Of Content Ahead Of Its Release

By now, you're well aware that a comic book's original solicitation may not always reflect the final product you'll eventually find at your local comic shop. In fact, just yesterday, we brought word that such a thing will happen with Batman #23. But whereas that seems to be a case of a new story overwriting what was initially announced, the developing situation with Nightwing is a bit of a different beast.

By now, you’re well aware that a comic book’s original solicitation may not always reflect the final product you’ll eventually find at your local comic shop. In fact, just yesterday, we brought word that such a thing will happen with Batman #23. But whereas that seems to be a case of a new story overwriting what was initially announced, the developing situation with Nightwing is a bit of a different beast.

You see, an arc featuring Blockbuster set to be titled, well, “Blockbuster,” was originally penciled in to make up the content for issue #21, but now what looks to be a standalone tale exploring the fallout of “Nightwing Must Die” will appear in its place. But don’t fret, because “Blockbuster” is simply being pushed a bit while this interim yarn will do its best to enthrall readers.

Written by Michael McMillian, an alumnus of DC’s Writer’s Workshop, and illustrated by Christian Duce, this offering will see Dick Grayson and Wally West come together at a time when they may need each other most. From the sound of it, the heavier stuff being explored over in Titans may not carry over, but you never know.

In the meantime, you can check out the new solicit for Nightwing #21, along with its release date, below:

Written by MICHAEL MCMILLIAN • Art by CHRISTIAN DUCE • Cover by BRAD WALKER & ANDREW HENNESSY • Variant cover by CASEY JONES
Following the events of “Nightwing Must Die,” Nightwing has returned to Blüdhaven and after an encounter with a criminal is feeling like a lesser super hero without having powers. The Flash (Wally West) comes to Blüdhaven to get out of Titans Tower, spend a night fighting crime like they used to and try his best to not think about anything involving Barry Allen or Linda. The duo’s night is interrupted, though, by a new villain named Timebomb who has the ability to create stasis fields that freeze time and allow him to commit large crimes. And this device allows him to fight the Flash effortlessly. Nightwing and Flash have to beat him and they have to find out where his time freezing equipment came from.
This story leads directly into the upcoming “Blockbuster” story.
